Challenge to the market that the world has been ignoring.

Granma was originally founded by three crews.
Every crew had traveled around the world during their susceptible 20’s
Tread the soil, and interact with locals.
The world captured with the sense.

Through the experience, a thought ‘what is poverty?’ was stuck in our mind

Children begging for the money
People living by selling garbage
Despite the facts, they are living with smile

From what we have seen, we consider poverty as “lack of imagination” due to lack of significant amount of information.

What is missing and what do these people need to tackle the facts we faced?
We consider our mission is filling the missing piece.

Therefore, we, Granma,

consider 4 billion people with annual salary of less than $3,000 so called ‘base of the pyramid’ as market.
Our main business aims to support other enterprises to provide products which are able to improve their lives with appropriate cost by collecting information and observing the potential needs locally.

For instance, do you know products such as ‘olyset net’ (a net used in Africa preventing Anopheles mosquitoes and reduces the malaria) or ‘lifestraw’ (point-of-use water filter for people who have no access to safe water)?

However, currently, the products/services to improve BOP’s life are mostly not made from their perspective. We consider one of the causes as insufficient investigation and understanding about BOP.

Therefore, someone needs to pump up the information of BOP and connect with SMEs and innovative organizations.

Providing innovative products/services can enrich their lives.
We believe Granma can contribute and lead the revolution

  • Requirement
  • More than five years of working experience (28-39yeas old)
    Business level English
    Experience in product development or brand promotion in domestic or oversee market
    Working experience in consulting firm, sogoshosha, or major advertising agency
    Experience in NPO, NGO or good understanding in non-profit organization
    Eagerness to the BOP business or creating value in emerging markets
    Team (more than two staff) management experience
    Flexible mind that can accept different values from various background
  • Salary
  • ¥200,000-250,000
    Entire package can be discussed during the interview
  • Job specifications
  • Project management in BOP related events (planned to take place in May, 2010)
    PR, branding and marketing of Granma
    Negotiation and coordination of business with overseas
    Promotion of the events
    There also might be a possibility of managing a new business launching in overseas (We are planning to establish a brunch in overseas during 2010 spring to summer).

  2. At Granma, we consider new world cannot be opened just by problems solving skills. We aim more in enhancing backcasting abilities.
